laa a'budu maa ta'buduun: "lil-mustaqbal" & 'lil-haal"

TAFSIR AR-RAZI MAFAATIH TERHADAP  SURAH AL-KAAFIRUUN: AYAT 2

أحدها : أن الأول للمستقبل ، والثاني للحال 

والدليل على أن الأول للمستقبل أن " لا " لا تدخل إلا على مضارع في معنى الاستقبال ، أن ترى أن " لن " تأكيد فيما ينفيه " لا " وقال الخليل في " لن " : أصله لا أن ، إذا ثبت هذا فقوله : ( لا أعبد ما تعبدون ) أي لا أفعل في المستقبل ما تطلبونه مني من عبادة آلهتكم ولا أنتم فاعلون في المستقبل ما أطلبه منكم من عبادة إلهي ، ثم قال : ( ولا أنا عابد ما عبدتم ) أي ولست في الحال بعابد معبودكم ، ولا أنتم في الحال بعابدين لمعبودي . 

This tafsir supports the opinion that ayat 2 should be translated as 'future' tense (lil-mustaqbal), while others as present continuous tense (lil-haal). It is significant that the 2nd ayat connotes future tense while others do not. This opens the possibility that the 'kaafiruun' can embrace the religion of Muhammad but not vice-versa.

"I WILL (lil-mustaqbal) not serve what you serve (2). Neither ARE (lil-haal) you serving what I serve (3) (but not necessarily you WILL not)."
